Tonight (I guess technically last night since midnight just passed) Caris and I went to Collin Creek mall in Plano. I would take her to Firewheel but the playland is outdoors. I am pretty sure the high here today was 157. So we went to the mall for a little daddy - daughter time. As we sat there in the food court sharing a Subway sandwich all I could think about it how happy just being with her makes me. We could be laying in my bed on a Saturday morning watching Dora. Or in the van for the two hour drive to my parents' home in Wichita Falls. Or going for a walk in our neighborhood. It doesn't take much of anything. Just being with her brings me so much joy. Seeing her smile, hearing her make out new words. It adds a depth of beauty to my life that words cannot contain. In a world filled with people who pursue "more" to be happy, it is joyous relief to know that people are what give our lives fulfillment. As I sat there tonight watching her eat her sandwich all I could think about is how blessed I am.
